Privacy notice

This notice describes how the Sri Lanka Planner directory at eventplannersrilanka.com handles information. Updated 23 October 2026.

Information you submit

The listing and contact forms ask for your name, email address, business or subject name and a message. A new-listing submission also asks for a category, location and official website or business profile. We store these details to review the submission, handle your request and maintain the directory.

For listing, claim, correction, offer and promotion enquiries, your contact name and email are kept in administrative records. Approved business details, offer descriptions, prices, terms and expiry dates may be published. Your contact email is not published unless you separately supply it as a public business email.

Reviews are checked before publication. An approved review displays the name you submit, rating, review title and text, and submission date. Your contact email and experience date stay in administrative records. Approved business responses appear with the relevant review. Do not include sensitive personal information, passwords or payment details in any submission.

Claim requests may include your role and an official business source. Corrections may include proposed public contact details, opening hours, a map link and supporting sources. Promotion enquiries include the placement you request. These submissions are used to check and respond to the request; claiming a business does not automatically grant account access.

Public business information

Editorial listings contain information from publicly available business and industry sources. A source link accompanies each starter profile. Owners can ask us to correct or remove information using the contact form.

Site operation and security

The website and its hosting services may process technical information such as IP addresses and request logs to deliver pages and protect the service. The submission system uses a temporary hashed network identifier to limit repeated submissions. WordPress uses cookies for signed-in administrative sessions. The custom directory does not add advertising trackers or public visitor analytics at launch.

Access and retention

Authorised site administrators can review submissions and messages in WordPress. Hosting and security providers process data as needed to operate the website. Records remain available to the team until they are removed during administration or in response to an appropriate request; automatic deletion is not currently configured. Copies may remain temporarily in hosting backups.

Embedded Google Maps

Business profiles include an interactive Google Maps section. When the map loads, your browser connects to Google and sends the business or address search terms and standard connection information, such as your IP address. Maps are loaded near the visible part of the page to reduce initial loading. Google’s own privacy policy applies to this embedded service.

External websites

Business links open services operated by others. Google Maps and WhatsApp links open those external services. Their own privacy and cookie practices apply when you visit them. The directory does not receive the details of bookings or purchases made on those websites.

Your requests

Use the contact form to ask about information you submitted or to request a correction or deletion. Include enough context for us to identify the record. We may need to confirm that the request is yours before changing private information.

Saved businesses and comparisons

When you save or compare a business, its listing identifier is stored in your browser using local storage. No account is required. These choices remain in that browser until you remove them, clear the saved list or clear browser storage. The saved-list page requests the public business profiles for those identifiers from this website.

Copying a shortlist link places the selected public listing identifiers in the link. Anyone you share that link with can see those businesses; your name and contact details are not included. Your choices are not automatically shared with a business.

Submission alerts

New public submissions may generate an email alert to the site administrator containing the submission title and a link to its private WordPress record. The site mail service processes the alert. We record whether the mail service accepts it so the team can identify failures; this does not confirm delivery to an inbox.

Maps in search results

The map viewer on business cards and search results loads Google Maps after you choose to open it. The embedded-map information above also applies to this viewer.

Business enquiries and owner workspaces

When you use a business enquiry form, your name, contact details and message are saved by Sri Lanka Planner and shared with the named business through its approved enquiry address and owner workspace. Only authorised owners and site administrators can access these records. Your private status link shows progress without displaying your contact details. Contact the directory team to request correction or deletion.

Profile activity is counted as daily totals, kept within a 90-day reporting window and removed by the next daily cleanup. It does not create visitor profiles or retain raw IP addresses. A temporary keyed IP hash limits spam and expires one hour after the latest counted request. Activity counts are approximate and do not represent unique visitors or confirmed sales. Your browser shortlist remains separate.

Planning collections, questions and quotation requests

Named collections, dates and private notes are saved in your browser. Sharing creates a link containing the collection name, date and selected public business IDs; private notes are excluded. Anyone with that link can view its contents. Clearing browser data removes local collections.

Nearby search uses device coordinates locally when you choose that option. Loading the interactive map connects to OpenStreetMap and its map software provider; requested map tiles reflect the area you view. No device coordinates are saved in directory records.

Questions, business updates and owner answers are reviewed before publication. Correction reports remain private to the editorial team. Quotation requests share your submitted details only with the businesses you select. Private comparison links show quotation terms without your contact details; keep these links private. Owners can record enquiry outcomes and download aggregate reports. Plan requests do not authorise payment, and payment details are handled by a configured external provider.
